Manah and Selfless Service

One of the most important aspects of progression in all spheres of life is the offering of service to others without any thought of reward or self-gratification.

One of the most important aspects of progression in all spheres of life is the offering of service to others without any thought of reward or self-gratification. Selfless service is absolutely fundamental, both from an individual perspective and from the perspective of the entire human race, without which there can be no true progression. Taking into account many notable exceptions, it is an unfortunate but true fact that many people today will not help others without anticipating something tangible in return. Of course, people are committed to their own daily needs, families and friends, often helping each other whenever appropriate. This is as it should be between families and friends, but selfless service should extend far beyond family and friends. Selfless service also includes the progression of all humanity and life. Such service to others can be offered in numerous ways, ranging from financial assistance to direct physical help, to advice, support, healing and teaching. If mankind would embrace this extremely important universal principle, then greed, avarice, materialism, egocentricity and self-gratification so prevalent in the world today would disappear, and the world would be a vastly better place; the “kingdom of heaven on Earth”.
