Osho Active Meditations

This meditation is a fast, intense and thorough way to break old, ingrained patterns in the bodymind that keep one imprisoned in the past, and to experience the freedom, the witnessing, silence and peace that are hidden behind these prison walls.

Osho Dynamic Meditation
This meditation is a fast, intense and thorough way to break old, ingrained patterns in the bodymind that keep one imprisoned in the past, and to experience the freedom, the witnessing, silence and peace that are hidden behind these prison walls.
The meditation is meant to be done in the early morning, when as Osho explains it, "the whole of nature becomes alive, the night has gone, the sun is coming up and everything becomes conscious and alert."
"This is a meditation in which you have to be continuously alert, conscious, aware, whatsoever you do. The first step, breathing; the second step, catharsis; the third step, the mantra 'Hoo’. Remain a witness. Don’t get lost. It is easy to get lost. While you are breathing you can forget; you can become one with the breathing so much that you can forget the witness. But then you miss the point. Breathe as fast, as deep as possible, bring your total energy to it, but still remain a witness. Observe what is happening as if you are just a spectator, as if the whole thing is happening to somebody else, as if the whole thing is happening in the body and the consciousness is just centered and looking. This witnessing has to be carried in all the three steps. And when everything stops, and in the fourth step you have become completely inactive, frozen, then this alertness will come to its peak." Osho

Instructions
The meditation lasts one hour and has five stages. Keep your eyes closed throughout, using a blindfold if necessary. It can be done alone, and can be even more powerful if it is done with others.
First Stage: 10 minutes
Breathing chaotically through the nose, let breathing be intense, deep, fast, without rhythm, with no pattern – and concentrating always on the exhalation. The body will take care of the inhalation. The breath should move deeply into the lungs. Do this as fast and as hard as you possibly can until you literally become the breathing. Use your natural body movements to help you to build up your energy. Feel it building up, but don’t let go during the first stage.

Second Stage: 10 minutes
EXPLODE! … Let go of everything that needs to be thrown out. Follow your body. Give your body freedom to express whatever is there. Go totally mad. Scream, shout, cry, jump, kick, shake, dance, sing, laugh; throw yourself around. Hold nothing back; keep your whole body moving. A little acting often helps to get you started. Never allow your mind to interfere with what is happening. Consciously go mad. Be total.

Third Stage: 10 minutes
With arms raised high above your head, jump up and down shouting the mantra, "Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!" as deeply as possible. Each time you land, on the flats of your feet, let the sound hammer deep into the sex center. Give all you have; exhaust yourself completely.

Fourth Stage: 15 minutes
STOP! Freeze wherever you are, in whatever position you find yourself. Don’t arrange the body in any way. A cough, a movement, anything, will dissipate the energy flow and the effort will be lost. Be a witness to everything that is happening to you.

Fifth Stage: 15 minutes
Celebrate! With music and dance express whatsoever is there. Carry your aliveness with you throughout the day.

Osho Kundalini Meditation

Being fully immersed in the shaking and dancing of the first two stages helps to "melt" the rock-like being, wherever the energy flow has been repressed and blocked. Then that energy can flow, dance and be transformed into bliss and joy. The last two stages enable all this energy to flow vertically, to move upwards into silence. It is a highly effective way of unwinding and letting go at the end of the day.

Instructions
First Stage: 15 minutes
Be loose and let your whole body shake, feeling the energies moving up from your feet. Let go everywhere and become the shaking. Your eyes may be open or closed.
Second Stage: 15 minutes
Dance ...  any way you feel, and let the whole body move as it wishes. Again, your eyes can be open or closed.
Third Stage: 15 minutes
Close your eyes and be still, sitting or standing, observing, witnessing, whatever is happening inside and out.
Fourth Stage: 15 minutes
Keeping your eyes closed, lie down and be still.

Osho Nadabrahma Meditation

Nadabrahma is the humming meditation – through humming and hand movements conflicting parts of you start falling in tune, and you bring harmony to your whole being. Then, with body and mind totally together, you "slip out of their hold" and become a witness to both. This watching from the outside is what brings peace, silence and bliss.
"So in Nadabrahma, remember this: let the body and mind be totally together, but remember that you have to become a witness. Get out of them, easily, slowly, from the back door, with no fight, with no struggle." Osho

Instructions
The meditation lasts an hour, and there are three stages. Your eyes remain closed throughout.
First Stage: 30 minutes
Sit in a relaxed position with eyes closed and lips together. Start humming, loudly enough to be heard by others and create a vibration throughout your body. You can visualize a hollow tube or an empty vessel, filled only with the vibrations of the humming. A point will come when the humming continues by itself and you become the listener. There is no special breathing and you can alter the pitch or move your body smoothly and slowly if you feel it.
Second Stage: 15 minutes
The second stage is divided into two 7½ minute sections. For the first half move the hands, palms up, in an outward circular motion. Starting at the navel, both hands move forwards and then divide to make two large circles mirroring each other left and right. The movement should be so slow that at times there will appear to be no movement at all. Feel that you are giving energy outwards to the universe. After 7½ minutes turn the hands, palms down, and start moving them in the opposite direction. Now the hands will come together towards the navel and divide outwards to the sides of the body. Feel that you are taking energy in. As in the first stage, don’t inhibit any soft, slow movements of the rest of your body.
Third Stage: 15 minutes
Now stop the hand movement and just sit relaxed.

Osho Nataraj Meditation?                                                                                                      Nataraj is the energy of dance. This is dance as a total meditation, where all inner division disappears and a subtle, relaxed awareness remains.  "Forget the dancer, the center of the ego; become the dance. That is the meditation. Dance so deeply that you forget completely that ‘you’ are dancing and begin to feel that you are the dance. The division must disappear; then it becomes a meditation. "If the division is there, then it is an exercise: good, healthy, but it cannot be said to be spiritual. It is just a simple dance. Dance is good in itself – as far as it goes it is good. After it, you will feel fresh, young. But it is not meditation yet. The dancer must go, until only the dance remains…. Don’t stand aside, don’t be an observer. Participate! "And be playful. Remember the word playful always – with me it is very basic." Osho

Instructions
The meditation has three stages, lasting a total of 65 minutes.
First Stage: 40 minutes
With eyes closed, dance as if possessed. Let your unconscious take over completely. Do not control your movements or witness what is happening. Just be totally in the dance.
Second Stage: 20 minutes
Keeping your eyes closed, lie down immediately. Be silent and still.
Third Stage: 5 minutes
Dance in celebration and enjoy.

Osho Devavani Medtation
The meditation lasts one hour and has four stages of 15 minutes each. Keep your eyes closed throughout. In this meditation a gentle, unfamiliar language moves and speaks through the meditator, who becomes an empty vessel. It deeply relaxes the mind and creates inner peace.

Instructions
First Stage: 15 minutes
Sit quietly, while the music is playing.
Second Stage: 15 minutes
Start making nonsense sounds, for example “la la la” and continue until unfamiliar word-like sounds arise. These sounds need to come from the unfamiliar part of the brain used as a child, before words were learned. Allow a gentle conversational intonation; do not cry or shout, laugh or scream.
Third Stage: 15 minutes
Stand up and continue this unfamiliar language, allowing your body to move softly in harmony with the sound. If your body is relaxed, the subtle energies will create a Latihan – a spontaneous, unstructured movement outside your control.
Fourth Stage: 15 minutes
Lie down. Be silent and still.

Osho Gourishankar Meditation

The meditation lasts one hour and has four stages of 15 minutes each. Osho says that if the breathing is done correctly in the first stage of this meditation the carbon dioxide formed in the bloodstream will make you feel as high as Gourishankar (Mt. Everest). This "high" is carried into the subsequent stages of soft gazing, soft and spontaneous movement, and silent stillness.

Instructions
First Stage: 15 minutes
Sit with closed eyes. Inhale deeply through the nose, filling the lungs. Hold the breath for as long as possible; then exhale gently through the mouth, and keep the lungs empty for as long as possible. Continue this breathing cycle throughout this stage.
Second Stage: 15 minutes
Return to normal breathing and with a gentle gaze look at a candle flame or a flashing blue light. Keep your body still.
Third Stage: 15 minutes
With closed eyes, stand up and let your body be loose and receptive. The subtle energies will be felt to move the body outside your normal control. Allow this "Latihan" to happen. Don’t you do the moving: let moving happen, gently and gracefully.
Fourth Stage: 15 minutes
Lie down with closed eyes, silent and still.

Osho Mandala Meditation
This meditation lasts one hour and there are four stages of 15 minutes each. Every circle contains a center. In the first three stages of this energetic and powerful technique "centering" is the aim, through the creation of a circle of energy. Then, in the fourth stage, the relaxation.

Instructions
First Stage: 15 minutes
With open eyes run on the spot, starting slowly and gradually, getting faster and faster. Bring your knees up as high as possible. Breathing deeply and evenly will move the energy within. Forget the mind and forget the body. Keep going.
Second Stage: 15 minutes
Sit down with eyes closed, mouth open and loose. Let your body sway from the waist, like a reed blowing in the wind – from side to side, back and forth, around and around as it happens. This will gather your awakened energies at the navel center.
Third Stage: 15 minutes
Lie on your back, keeping your head still. Open your eyes and rotate them in a clockwise direction. Sweep them fully around in the sockets as if you are following the second hand of a vast clock. Start slowly, then gradually turn your eyes faster and faster. Let your mouth remain open and the jaw relaxed, with soft and even breathing. This will bring your centered energies to the “third eye” center.
Fourth Stage: 15 minutes
Close your eyes and be still.

Osho Chakra Sounds Meditation
In this meditation vocal sounds open, harmonize and bring awareness to the chakras or energy centers. It can bring you into a deep, peaceful, inner silence. You can make your own vocal sounds, or just listen to the music and feel the sounds within you. The meditation is to be done with its specific OSHO Chakra Sounds Meditation music, which indicates and energetically supports the different stages.

Instructions
First stage: 45 minutes
Stand, sit comfortably, or lie down, keeping your back straight and your body loose. Breathe into your belly rather than your chest. The sounds should be made with your mouth open and your jaw loose, keeping your mouth open the whole time. Close your eyes and listen to the music; start with the first chakra and if you wish, start making sounds – in a single tone or varying the tone. While listening to the sound of the music or the sounds that you are making, feel the sounds pulsating in the very center of the chakra. You can use your imagination to get into it, if needed at first – and then feel the inner vibrations of that chakra. You will hear the tones change to a higher pitch – now listen and feel sounds in the second chakra, and continue making sounds if you wish. This process continues all the way up to the seventh chakra. With each next chakra, let your sounds become higher in pitch. After you have reached the seventh chakra, the tones will go back down through all the chakras, one at a time. As you hear the tones go down, listen and make sounds in each chakra. Feel your body become like a hollow bamboo flute, allowing the sounds to resonate from top to bottom. At the end of the sequence, you will hear a pause before the next sequence starts. The full sequence up and down is done three times altogether.
Second stage: 15 minutes
Sit or lie down and be silent. Watch whatever is happening within – relaxed, without any judgment, remaining a witness.

Osho Vipassana Meditation
"There are hundreds of methods of meditation, but perhaps Vipassana has a unique status; just the same way as there have been thousands of mystics, but Gautam Buddha has a uniqueness of his own. In many ways he is incomparable. In many ways he has done more for humanity than anybody else. In many ways his search for truth was more sincere, more authentic than anybody else’s. The meaning – the literal meaning – of the word Vipassana is  "to look," and the metaphorical meaning is "to watch, to witness." Gautam Buddha has chosen a meditation that can be called the essential meditation. All other meditations are different forms of witnessing, but witnessing is present in every kind of meditation as an essential part; it cannot be avoided. Buddha has deleted everything else and kept only the essential part – to witness. When you have become perfectly watchful of your body, mind and heart, then you cannot do anything more, then you have to wait. When perfection is complete on these three steps, the fourth step happens on its own accord as a reward. Suddenly your life force, your witnessing, enters into the very center of your being. You have come home." Osho

Instructions
First stage: 45 minutes
Find a comfortable sitting position. It is fine to change your position if you need to, moving slowly, with awareness. While sitting, your eyes are closed. The essence of vipassana is to watch and accept whatever is happening. While sitting, the primary object to be watching is the rise and fall of the belly, slightly above the navel, caused by natural breathing. It is not a concentration technique so while watching the breath, many other things will take your attention away. Nothing is a disturbance in vipassana, it includes everything such as thoughts, judgements, feelings, body sensations and impressions from the outside world. Watch whatever comes up and gently return to the breath when you have the choice. Remember that it is the process of watching that is important, not so much what you are watching.
Second stage: 15 minutes
Now the primary object to be watching is the sensation of the feet touching the ground while walking. Your attention may go onto other things. Notice what arises and whenever you have the choice, gently bring your attention back to the feet touching the ground. Keep your eyes lowered, looking a few steps ahead. It is a slow natural walk, about half of your normal speed.
